This past Monday night I got to see one of the best and most exciting Australian films I have seen in a long time. Emotional, beautiful and notably hilarious; Holding the Man made me excited for just how much impact a film can have. Don’t get me wrong, I have seen plenty of films that have had a profound impact on me but it isn't often that one of these films are made in Australia by Australians. I truly hope this film gets the acclaim it deserves and that all filmmakers and other creatives go and see it; showing to investors and film agencies that we want to see more of this kind of cinema.
I know when I’m genuinely inspired by a creative work because my mind tends to go into overdrive and I see full ideas playing out in my head. After seeing the film I wanted to rush out and write forever! Luckily, we were treated to a Q & A session with the lead, Ryan Corr afterwards which was just as inspiring. I think it shows that a film is going to be something special when it’s lead actor is willing to attend so many screenings and Q & A’s across the country in support of the film.
Totally didn't mean for this post to be such a gushing review but I just wanted to share my praise for a beautiful piece of thought-provoking cinema. Hopefully, one day I’ll be making films that have just as much impact! If you need me, I’ll be off writing somewhere 😀🎬📝
